Fashion trends are constantly changing, but fashion has a much deeper meaning than just what people wear. Fashion is about class and culture. From the clothes we wear to the accessories we put on our bodies, style helps define how society sees us as individuals. We will explore how fashion defines culture in different communities and around the world.

India

India is the home of one of the world’s oldest and most influential fashion cultures, with many designers creating new trends in clothing. One trend that has been popular for centuries is wearing a sari, which consists of three pieces: a skirt or long dress; an inner garment called petticoat or undergarment; and an outer garment called a shawl or saree.

Turkey

Turkey is a Muslim-majority country, with Islamic practices being a vital part of the culture. The Turkish people typically wear clothing covering their body from head to toe, but they may allow more skin in certain places, like on their hands and necks. Some women will opt out of covering themselves up completely if they have blue eyes.

Japan

Japan is a country with ancient traditions and customs, many of which are rooted in the history of Buddhism. Alongside its rich cultural heritage, it has developed into one of the world’s most innovative fashion industries thanks to Tokyo street fashion brands like Comme des Garçons or Yohji Yamamoto. One trend that we see more often in Japanese fashion is asymmetry, which means one side of a garment looks different from the other.

America

America has a very diverse culture, with many people coming to the country worldwide. As such, there are also different fashion trends depending on where you live in this country. Coastal cities like New York City have a more casual vibe seen through their denim and t-shirts, while places in the Southwest might be much more relaxed in their clothing, like wearing a kimono or dressing up with cowboy boots.
